30.08.2011 - TAURUS: new song and new videos |
|||
I've made a YouTube video for the next finished TAURUS song „Stolen Child“ - you can see it here. It‘s by far the most personal thing I‘ve ever written. „Stolen Child“ deals with the topic „Parental Alienation“. It‘s about my beloved son being alienated from me by his mother for years now. You can read more about it in the YouTube text. The second news of the TAURUS camp is about a professional video shooting. We filmed a live performance of the song „Animated World“ in a big industrial hall of the area where usually giant kettles are welded. A very special location that was exclusively prepared to our imagination - it was far more than what we could've expected. We like to express our gratitude for this kind cooperation with the Wulff Company! Thank you!!! We have posted a few impressions of the shooting on facebook and picasa. Although the shooting was a tough time for everybody involved the bigger part is still to be done by cameraman Torsten Funk of IPS/ Hamburg, a dear old friend of mine. The editing of all the filmed material will take its time - so we expect the finished video in October. Stay tuned for more news. Cheers Frank |

Remembering Phil On January 4, 1986, Philip Parris Lynott died – he was one of the few really outstanding characters in rock history. In memory of his 25 th anniversary of death I would like to express my deep respect for the art of Phil and his band Thin Lizzy. For me Phil is the classical poet of our time. I have bought hundreds of records in my life and the most of them still have a strong appeal to me but very few of them continuously are part of my daily life - so are the songs of Phil! „Dancing in the Moonlight“ was the song my wife Raina and I were dancing as our wedding dance - rubbing our bottoms to the famous wah wah breaks of the song - that was great fun and helped to override my bad performance :-) Phil's songs are part of my life. And the way he celebrated the discrepancies in life - singing poetic love songs side by side to hard rock or swinging jazzy numbers - often encouraged me to find my own track in this world. Like Phil you can wear a studded belt to a suit and a tie to a T-shirt - it‘s a decision of who you wanna be and not what people want you to be. Yes, it‘s true you can „Do anything you want to“. Thank you Phil - your spirit and authenticity is strongly missed these days! ![]() Please enjoy an amazing short film about the Thin Lizzy frontman written, directed and animated by Conor Ryan here: Phil Lynott. |

Summer moved on The to-do-list appears to be endless - but there is no denying that the summer has come to an end. Work on the forthcoming EUREKA and TAURUS projects had to be kept on the back-burner for some time but everything is moving on.... At the end of this year a „Best Of“-EUREKA CD entitled „Silverware“ will be released. I‘ve been working on this one for a couple of months now parallel to the first TAURUS CD. „Silverware“ will include 15 tracks - one-third of them re-recorded and a brand new song! As a teaser you can hear full versions of „The Calling“ and „Into The Blue” on EUREKA's MySpace-site. „The Calling“ even presents a new voice of EUREKA - Esther Marake. I met Esther during studio work and was impressed by her voice. Listen to the track - she‘s awesome! Including me, there will be five singers on „Silverware” what makes this album nicely coloured and varied. The TAURUS debut is taking shape slowly but well-grounded. Steve and I are in good form - the songs appear very strong to us - it will be worth the waiting! Rock'n'Roll is like an old friend - he‘s still the same but there is a lot to talk about! Stay tuned - there‘s more to come from here soon. Frank |

As the first „spring update“ we have put a new song of our band project TAURUS on the MySpace page of TAURUS where you can hear a demo version.
Although the title does not refer to it “Solid Ground” is entirely programmatic: TAURUS has solid ground under their feet.
And you can also listen to “Animated World” in a more evolved version now. |

The Bull's First Steps... For a few weeks now I've been working on a new project leading us directly back to the future, to the point where everything started. Bass guitar, guitar and drums (OK, and a few synths) - it's rock'n'roll! For this project we needed a new name: "TAURUS" TAURUS is Frank Bossert (vocals, guitar, bass guitar, synth) and Steve Hanson (drums). Steve has been doing drums for EUREKA since 2003, live as well as in the studio. I really appreciate him as a drummer and I'm happy to have him around in this project, too. After the first studio sessions we decided to start recordings for the TAURUS-debut album right away. We have put the first song “Animated World” in its basic version on the new TAURUS-MySpace site as a teaser. This site will grow together with the band and the new album - here's the link: www.myspace.com/eurekataurus We are looking forward to your feedback… Stay tuned and “Hold Your Fire”! Frank |

It's done! After slightly more than one year's work the new EUREKA album „Shackleton's Voyage“ is finally finished! The album was mixed and mastered by Yogi Lang (RPWL) at FARMLANDS Studios in Munich. I was able to look over his shoulder for a few days, and I can say that he did a marvellous job and I'm very pleased with the results! I'll let you know details about the final release date as soon as possible, promise! All the best, Frank |

New songs on MySpace We have uploaded snippets of two more titles from the forthcoming EUREKA album „Shackleton's Voyage“ into our MySpace player. „Going Home“ is the second song featuring Billy Sherwood's voice. His voice and his choir arrangements are in a class of their own. He's my new favourite singer! „The Rescue“ is going to be the last track of the CD - the snippet gives an impression of the opulent guitar work setting the tone of this album. The CD will be released with a luxurious artwork. The extensive booklet contains numerous original photographs by Frank Hurley, who was the expedition's photographer. Depending on the business site – negotiations are currently under way - the album will presumably be released in early 2009. We'll post more details shortly. Have fun listening! Frank |

EUREKA on MySpace The EUREKA page on MySpace.com (THE online community for musicians/fans) has been around for some days now. Here, among other things, you can listen to four of our songs in full length and add us to your friends list. We will add a few teasers for the new CD „Shackleton's Voyage“ irregularly. This is the link to MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/frankbossert You can find EUREKA even on YouTube. We have uploaded a few older videos, which we hope to complement with some new ones in the future. The link is: http://de.youtube.com/eurekasoundworks Additionally many things have happened on our website. We have rearranged the Gallery and completely reworked the Studio page. Have fun! Frank |

We have upgraded the Albums page with the compilations and albums I have worked on. One click on the cover will direct you to the distributor. Compilations like "CELTIC MYST - TOP 100" (Universal), which is supposed to unite the 100 best celtic tracks, represent the high interest in EUREKA's musical work within this genre. The Links page, which had been sadly neglected so far, has been actualized. Have fun prowling around! |

QUO VADIS, EUREKA? |
|
![]() |
By the end of 2006 it looked as if EUREKA would be going a different direction. All the songs that I had written dealt with the changes within my private life. I had become a singer / songwriter overnight. Despite the fact that these more rock-oriented songs marked a new direction for EUREKA, we faced the challenge and rehearsed old and new material for concerts in 2007. But, as it happens in life, things turned out differently. A tragic case of illness within the band shattered all our plans, and the forced break showed me this wasn't the right way for EUREKA. |
I thought about where to go with EUREKA, ignoring the songs I had already written, and dusted off an old idea I had postponed many years ago: Ernest Shackleton and the voyage of the Endurance. When I first heard about this story in 2001, my first thought was to make an album about it. But at that time I was engaged in recording „FULL CIRCLE“ and thought it not a good idea to mix both these projects. The voyage of the Endurance needed a CD of its own – this topic was too complex and extraordinary! I resolved to save it for the future. And exactly when I needed it, the idea came back to me like an old friend: "Hi, it's me again!" I have been working in my studio for some weeks now, converting the voyage of the Endurance into a musical concept album - and I notice that the fire is back! It's a lot of fun working on this project. I'm planning to finish this new EUREKA album by the end of this year - really! The songs I have written during the last years are enough to fill one more album, which I am putting on ice (no pun intended!) until it comes back to me saying "Hi, it's me again!" All the best - Frank |

The compilation „SONGS FOR LUCA 2“ has just been released.
Several artists have contributed 30 songs for this double CD, 25 of them being previously unreleased material.
The project was launched by Dave Bainbridge, co-founder and guitar player for IONA . The proceeds from this CD will be used for his autistic son Luca's therapy in the USA.
I am especially happy to contribute the track „Arabesque“ to this project, which I have known from the release of the first „SONGS FOR LUCA“ compilation. Dave told me that Luca has always been an attentive listener to EUREKA music. It's a joy to know that EUREKA is joining artists like Moya Brennan, IONA and Troy Donockley on this special charity CD. |
